Aphasia Awareness Week 2008
Belfast Lord Mayor Cllr Tom Hartley and Speechmatters Patron Noel Thompson officially launched Aphasia Awareness Week 2008 at the Lord Mayor's Parlour, Claredon Docks on Monday 13th October 2008.
The launch signified the start of a two week awareness campaign which included events across Northern Ireland.
The aim of Aphasia Awareness Week is to increase recognition and understanding of the term 'aphasia', a devastating communication disability, resulting from a stroke or head injury.
As part of this year's Aphasia Awareness Campaign, the local Cookstown Conversation Group launched their own calendar to raise money for Speechmatters - Part of The Stroke Association.
