Campaigns
FACT 1 - Approximately 4,000 people in Northern Ireland will have a stroke this year.
FACT 2 - Stroke is the main cause of aphasia and a leading cause of severe adult disability within Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
FACT 3 - There are an estimated 10,000 people in NI living with aphasia, more than Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis combined.
These startling facts underline why The Stroke Association NI is working hard to campaign for improved health and social care for stroke survivors, people living with aphasia, their carers and families. We want to see a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need.
One of the ways in which we aim to achieve this is through campaigning. We campaign on issues that affect stroke survivors, people living with aphasia, their carers and families, so that they are highlighted amongst the public, the media, MLA's/MP's and all the other people who make key decisions about health and social care in Northern Ireland.
Every year we launch a series of campaigns that highlight stroke and aphasia in Northern Ireland.
